Philippe Lamarre, Eng, MSCE
Mr. Lamarre has extensive experience in strategic, financial, management and commercial consulting, and in the development and management of projects and emerging Life Sciences and Technology companies. Previously, as a senior executive of the largest Canadian engineering-construction firm, he had profit and loss responsibilities for a group of more than 1,000 employees and annual revenues in excess of $160 million.
Richard Latt, DVM, DACLAM
President and Co-founder
Dr. Latt has more than 40 years’ experience in laboratory animal science and medicine, laboratory animal facility design, husbandry practices and operation, budget management, laboratory animal disease control and animal care, and program accreditation. He was Director of the Animal Resources Centre at McGill University for nearly 30 years, where he was also an Associate Professor of Pathology for more than a decade. Dr. Latt completed Fellowships in Laboratory Animal Medicine and Pathology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine supported by the Medical Research Council of Canada. He is a Past President of both the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (CALAS) and the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Medicine (CALAM) and the recipient of the Charles River Canada CALAM/ACMAL Award in 2001.
Keith M. Astrofsky, DVM
Director of Operations
Dr. Astrofsky has more than 20 years’ experience in laboratory animal science, comparative medicine and vivarium operations management. His responsibilities have included animal welfare regulatory compliance, clinical care of diverse animal species, animal model development, oversight of husbandry & technical procedures, health monitoring programs, training, expense & capital budgets, facility design & renovation, as well as animal care & use program accreditation. He received his DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in comparative medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the laboratory of James G. Fox, DVM. Dr. Astrofsky has worked previously in the biopharmaceutical industry for companies such as Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) as Executive Director & Global Head, Laboratory Animal Services (LAS) with oversight responsibility for world-wide operations and Praecis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as Attending Veterinarian & Head, Vivarium Operations. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and book chapters. He is also an active member of several professional societies where he has served on both local & national committees. Dr. Astrofsky has served or continues to serve in consulting, teaching, advisory and/or senior positions with several biotechnology, non-profit, and academic institutions.
Michel L. Tremblay, PhD
Vice-President, Scientific Affairs and Co-founder
An expert in mouse genetics, Dr. Tremblay trained at the National Institute of Health (Bethesda, USA). With more than 140 publications and more than 100 in the field of Protein tyrosine phosphatases, he is internationally recognized for his work on this gene family. He is the former Director of the Goodman Cancer Research Centre and is a member of several scientific advisory boards of Provincial and Canadian funding agencies. Dr. Tremblay is honored as the Jeanne and Jean–Louis Lévesque Chair in Cancer Research, and was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of the Royal Society of Canada.
