Job Summary

The Compliance Coordinator for Mispro’s laboratory animal vivarium network will support the Manager of Quality and Compliance to provide support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in order to assure compliance of Mispro’s animal care and use program with federal, state, and local regulations.


  • Responsible for compliance program related to Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) and/or related functions to include administrative review of protocols, working directly to enter protocol data and build reports for metrics, semi-annual program review process, compliance-related audits/inspections, investigation of animal welfare-related concerns, maintenance of animal use program records, and program metrics subject to routine review by external clients and governing regulatory/accrediting agencies (PHS-OLAW, USDA-APHIS, AAALAC, FDA, City of Cambridge, New York DPH)
  • Provide compliance support to the Mispro client research community in our AAALAC-accredited, global in vivo research support program in support of the local Site Supervisor.
  • Help manage in coordination with Manager the implementation of animal care & use training program and ensure post-approval monitoring (PAM) of in vivo activities conducted by client and Mispro staff
    Write, review, and maintain operational processes to include generation & maintenance of policies, SOPs, and records (IACUC, training, husbandry, environmental monitoring).
  • Manage and support interactions with clients and external regulatory/accrediting agencies (defined above) during all scheduled & unannounced program audits, reviews or assessments, generation of associated reports or official responses to these reviews, and maintenance of current licenses & charters.
  • Must be able to travel to all Mispro sites in the US & Canada, including CA, MA, NC, NY, and Montreal.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal (transparency, professionalism, integrity, trust) and communication skills (moderate to advanced computer skills, written, verbal, presentation), a strong commitment to providing quality research service support, and dedicated to providing humane animal care in accordance with all guidelines and regulations pertaining to Laboratory Animal Care.
  • Must be reliable, able to work well independently, as well as participate in and work cross functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment, while also demonstrating a focus on individual accountability and attention to detail in providing quality and consistent results in the execution of all duties.
  • The candidate should have a positive attitude toward work and co-workers, be able to readily adapt to new projects and be comfortable communicating with all levels of management and employees.

1-3+ years related work experience in scientific research, preferably in a biomedical area


High School diploma or equivalent is required

AA in Animal Science or related field required.

Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS), CPIA or AALAS technician certification preferred.
