“New York is fast becoming one of the world’s leading biotech hubs and opening a location in Farmingdale is a unique and exciting opportunity for us to serve a diverse community of life sciences innovators in the Long Island area,” said Mispro CEO Philippe Lamarre. “Within 25 miles of our new facility, there are a number of universities with life sciences programs, several well-known and established biopharma organizations and incubators, and an increasing number of early-stage biotechs choosing to set up their operations outside of the Manhattan periphery,” adds Lamarre.

Mispro Biotech Services offers extensive experience in vivarium operations and services, having grown a network of managed vivarium facilities in key North American biotech hubs since its founding in 2003, including a facility in east Manhattan’s life sciences cluster that opened in 2010. Mispro supports multiple clients in its facilities, giving them access to research and animal housing space while Mispro provides all animal care, regulatory, and compliance services, including Mispro’s own Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

“We’re thrilled to have Mispro at Broad Hollow,” said Broad Hollow Bioscience Park Executive Director, Greg Blyskal. “Vivarium access for in vivo studies is much desired, and an exciting amenity for the life sciences community we have in the greater-Farmingdale area. It’s also a great addition to our science park campus, where we offer lab and office space and have well-established affiliations with academic, state, and private research institutions with preclinical pipelines.”

In addition to offering access to vivarium space for nearby research organizations, Mispro hopes the expansive, state-of-the-art facility will be an attractive option for companies headquartered in and around New York City, including more established companies who may need space for overflow studies, breeding, or team development.

Mispro Senior Director of Operations Keith Astrofsky, DVM, adds, “what we accomplish with this new facility is creating a destination that is not only highly-effective for conducting in vivo studies, but one that also inspires collaboration and innovation amongst members of this dynamic community. A vivarium with ready access to adjoining lab space and conference rooms offers great flexibility in supporting a wide range of studies and research disciplines.”

Mispro’s Broad Hollow Bioscience Park vivarium research facility is now open and accepting clients.
